Sengakuji Temple

Sengakuji Temple

Sengakuji Temple is a Soto Zen sect temple that houses the tombs of famous samurais known in dramas and movies, such as "The Treasury of Loyal Retainers", including Ako Roshi and Asano Naganori. Within the temple's premises is the Akogishi Memorial Hall, which showcases documents and mementos, as well as plays videos of The Treasury of Loyal Retainers. Every spring and winter, a Loyalist Festival is held, which includes a memorial service, tea ceremony, parade, and a variety of events.
